Good Medicine: Myofascial Bodywork

with Abi'l-Khayr, LMT

Attention: I will be resuming my practice following an 8-week hiatus as I regained strength following lumbar spine surgery. The available dates and times listed below should be accurate as of the beginning of November.

Myofascial Bodywork has produced positive results for clients with various forms of chronic pain, including Fibromyalgia, Carpal Tunnel, Frozen Shoulder, Sciatica, Plantar Fasciitis, Lupus, and TMJ issues. Clients also report feeling deeply relaxed after myofascial bodywork, making it a useful candidate for your general wellness regimen.

This style of bodywork uses a gentle approach to the fascial network, which runs in one continuous web throughout the body. Restrictions in the fascia change the way the body distributes tension, and can lead to inefficient use of muscles as well as creating structural imbalance. These restrictions are significant factors if not the the root cause of many chronic pain conditions.

Online booking is currently configured to allow scheduling for tomorrow and beyond. If you are trying to schedule an appointment for today please text Abi'l-Khayr at 518-469-1126.

The first step in booking an appointment online is to choose the location and the service desired. Three weeks out of four I am seeing clients in Auburn (Chagrin Falls), Ohio. Every fourth week I am with clients at my studio in Troy, NY. Under each location below are the service offerings available at that location.

  • Relaxation in Auburn (Ohio)

Relaxation Xpress uses a sequence of releases drawn from Abi’l-Khayr’s training and experience with Myofascial Bodywork. The focus of the session is on bringing you into a deeply relaxed state, using techniques which are effective yet different than the more typical Swedish-style massage. Gentle stretches are held over time in order to remove tension locked deeply in the connective tissue of the body. The session tends to follow a specific sequence, working primarily around the head, neck, arms and legs, and concludes with some work around the shoulder blades, followed by a slow, lengthening stretch of the spine and low back.

  • Troy (NY) Studio

I schedule sessions with clients in the Capital Region one week out of every four. These appointments are split between studios in Albany and Troy. During the weeks that I am in the Capital Region, I schedule clients in Troy on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. My Troy studio is located at 116 Third Street.
